I did'nt mention who was coming in, I said that their boards did what was necessary to stop their decline, and do everything possible to stay in the Prem. We tried they loyalty route before and Bruce still could not stop us going down. PS now that Megson has gone to Bolton there is one less duff manager waiting in the wings to come here **thumbup Mourinho is on his way :banner: |

Yeah, im sure Megson simply told them he didnt have c lue and is copying Alladyce. Im not saying 4-5-1 is a useless formation, it can work for teams like Chelsea with Drogba, or Bolton with Anelka, not with Jerome. Its common sense that to play with one striker you need a 20 goal a season man. And yes Nicolas Anelka is. Jerome isn't |

Thats why Anelka cost Bolton £8m+ thats why Drogba cost £24m A little unfair on Jerome. until this club under any regime is prepared to spend that kind of money we will have to hope Jerome finds his scoring boots very soon. |

I have some complaints about today. The Forse should have started upfront with cammie 6 goals in 2 games reserves or no reserves is a first team place in a Derby for somone who is used to scoring in them. De Ridder was having a bad game today he just didnt settle, it was obvious after 20 minutes he just was not settling, when you see that get him off its no reflection on his carrer we all have an off day and today was his. The formation as well ffs Brucie how many times 4 4 2. I don't want him sacked unless there is somone else better to take over and at the moment i dont think there is. I think he is a disaster who dosen't learn from his mistakes but he dosent have a replacement. :banner: |

But you are shouldering the blame on Jerome though. He did'nt have the best of seasons with us in the championship but we suddenly expect him to lead the line for us and bag 20 goals. Bruce should put someone up with him, not 20 yards behind him and call it a 'supporting role'. Play somebody alongside Jerome to help him and his pace and power will show. |

Yes Willie, thats why we should have 2 strikers up front to get us the goals we need. Just as wardend said. Im not blaming Jerome, i rate him highly, i think that alongside Forssell the best would be brought out of him, there were spells where they linked up well together today. |

[/QUOTE] On the other hand Benni McCarthy was bought for a song by Blackburn Rovers. 23 goals last season. And Benjani was Pompey's record signing in 2006 - at a shade over £4m! There are two ways of getting success in football. Pay big money for the top quality players. Or get a manager who knows how to blend average players into good teams and get the best from their limited ability. Sadly we have a Board who wont spend, and a manager who manages to turn 'the best squad ever assembled here' into relegation fodder. |

When Benjani first went to Pompey he couldn't score and it took him a while to settle to the English game. We need serious money spent instead of penny pinching, we have become the market traders of the football world, now whilst we might unearth some bargains we also buy some rubbish, so until we shop up market it will be a struggle. going to say bruce in :) who would be willing to manage our club at the moment? who has stuck with us, made up for his relegation performance, denied other clubs to get us here. I think hes constantly learning and to me he's becoming one of the faces i recognise as blues so i wish him all the best |

Oh right its that easy. Please explain why Sunderland who have spent over £12m on 2 strikers are struggling to score enough goals, Ditto Derby,Wigan,Bolton, Fulham,Middlesborough,Newcastle,Avfc We have Forssell who's fitness is uncertain,O'Connor and Jerome. our top scorer is Kapo who worryingly seems to coming in for soe stick. |

Im just saying we are more likely to score with 2 up front than 1 upfront. Its not about how much money you spend, its about getting the right players and using them effectively. Sticking Schmitz at left back wasn't clever. Putting 2 defensive midfielders wasnt clever Playing Palacios wasn't either. Nor was playing 4-4-1-1 |

The truth is mate is that the Minority as you say have in fact always been the Majority IMO Today's disgusting attendance of 26,000 plus for a local derby only underlines how serious the situation is as long we keep putting all this blind faith in Steve Bruce He has taken us as far as he can......as another poster rightly stated,he is a Championship manager at best and his tactics even deployed at home are bizarre beyond belief....even some of his long standing followers are starting to question them now Yes,I know everyone is tired of Bruce In Bruce out views, yes there are lots of them but this club WILL stagnate unless we make changes very soon I was actually proud of the lads today for their effort but again it shows Bruce up for his very limited tactical 'nous' even against very average opponents like Aston Villa FC |

I think there's a lack of self-belief and confidence running through the whole club and there has been for over 2 years now. This is reflected in the declining attendences, the lack of passion both in the stands and on the pitch and the general sense of stasis and staleness that you sense in the ground. Bruce is a big part of this but not the whole reason. He has assembled the nucleas of a decent team this season, but once again he seems incapable of getting the best out of them. That's nothing to do with lack of funds that's just poor management. With the takeover still rumbling on I don't think now is the time for change, but he can't keep on hanging on forever. We now seem to be pinning our survival on the continuing fitness of Forssell, fine in theory but we've been here so many times before that it seems almost fanciful to me that this time is the time he comes back fully-fit and repeats his form of 2003-04, as much as I hope it's true. As for the 4-5-1, I think it can work with the right players. At the moment I don't think Jerome has enough about him to carry it off, but I think Forssell might. Jerome doesn't seem always able to read Kapo's balls through wheras I think they'd be bread and butter to Forssell. Let's hope he stays fit cos at the moment I think he's our only chance of stopping up. |
